We designed WAGU to feel playful and social without turning into an open platform. That means no public feed, no follower culture, and no open search for strangers. Kids connect through real-world relationships, with parents involved from the start.
How WAGU is designed differently
WAGU is not built around endless scrolling or public broadcasting. It is designed around close connections, simple communication, and age-appropriate interaction.
Key principles behind the product:
- No public social feed
- No open friend search
- Parent involvement in setup and account management
- Real-world connection flow for adding friends
- Age-appropriate product design
- Ongoing moderation and safety review
Friending starts in real life
On WAGU, kids do not search for random people to add. Friends are added through an intentional connection flow designed for real-world relationships.
This reduces the likelihood of unwanted contact and keeps the network centered on people your child actually knows.
Built-in communication safeguards
WAGU includes protections around messaging and communication features. We use safety systems to help detect and limit experiences that are not appropriate for kids, and we continue to improve those systems over time.
We design communication to be playful and expressive, while still giving parents visibility and control.
Parents are part of the setup
Parents play an active role in getting started with WAGU. Account setup, device setup, and key permissions are designed to happen with a parent or guardian involved.
That includes areas like:
- Account creation and approval
- Device connectivity and setup
- Friend connection approval flows where applicable
- Ongoing access to parent controls
Privacy matters
We believe parents should understand what information is collected, why it is used, and how it supports the WAGU experience.
We work to keep data collection limited to what is needed to operate the product, improve safety, and support core features. Parents can learn more in our Privacy Policy.

Safety works best together
No system replaces family conversation. We encourage parents and kids to talk about who they connect with, how they use messaging, and what healthy device habits look like in your home.
WAGU is designed to support those conversations — not replace them.
